Alan Lee Longacre, age 67, a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, departed this world on May 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and cherished memories. Born on May 19, 1956, Alan's life was marked by a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the simple joys that made life beautiful.
Alan was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Kenneth and Elsie (Armbruster) Longacre, and his brother, John. Survived by his children, Aaron (Ann) Longacre, daughter, Courtney (Kelly) Henderson, sister, Deanna (Wayne) McAteer, brother, Randy (Jana) Longacre, along with nieces and nephews who adored him: Shawn (Yvonne) McAteer, Mindy (Eric) Habelt, Eliot (Bonnie) Longacre, and Janet (Clint) Smith and furkid Stella.
A graduate of Harding High School's class of 1974, Alan spent most of his life in Marion and recently called Delaware his home. Alan's fondest memories were often made amidst Ohio's picturesque covered bridges. Among these treasures, the Swartz Bridge; held a special place in his heart, offering him solace and peace.
Alan's journey was enriched by his unwavering love for his canine companions over the years. An avid reader, Alan found inspiration within the pages of countless books. His creative spirit found expression through wood burning, painting, and jewelry making in the “Midnight Studio.” Music, especially the soulful tunes of Steely Dan, resonated deeply with Alan, providing a backdrop to his life's experiences.
Alan's friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during a visitation period at Timson & Melroy Funeral Home, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14th. A Service honoring Alan's life will commence at 1:00 PM, with interment to follow in Caledonia Cemetery.
Alan's life was a testament to love, passion, and the pursuit of beauty in all its forms. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched, yet his memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
