Barry James Vaughn, a beloved figure in his community, passed away on February 7, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 27, 1935 in Marion, Ohio as the son of the late James and Ruth (Holtsberry) Vaughn. He was a 1955 graduate of Martel High School. Barry married the love of his life Mildred "Midge" Roesch August 5, 1955 and she preceded him in death April 9th, 2010. Barry lived a life marked by his warm personality and genuine love for people. He had a unique ability to engage with others; he truly never met a stranger, always welcoming conversation and connection.
Barry dedicated many years of his career to Marion Power Shovel, where he became a respected member of the workforce. His professional life was complemented by his service as a Private in the Army, reflecting his commitment to his country. A proud member of the American Legion Post 401 in Caledonia, Barry took great pride in his military service and his affiliation with this organization, where he formed lasting friendships.
In his leisure time, Barry pursued a variety of interests that showcased his eclectic personality. He had a passion for collecting guns, tinkering with lawnmowers, and collecting antiques. A sports fan, he held a special fondness for the Cleveland Indians, not as much as his wife Midge did, she was the bigger fan.
Barry's legacy will be carried on by his family: his children Cathy (Ralph) Stayner, Robin (Jackie) Vaughn, Shannon Vaughn, Tina Wolfe Smith and Lynette Smith, sister Sandy (Richard) Holycross, 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Barry is preceded in death by his cherished daughters Jeanie Vaughn and Tammy Keigley, sons, Scott and Jerry Vaughn and his brothers, Bob, Dean, and Jerry Lee Vaughn.
Visitation services will be held at Timson & Melroy in Caledonia, Ohio, on February 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Private graveside will be held for Barry in Caledonia Cemetery. Barry will be remembered for his kindness, the stories shared, and the laughter he brought into the lives of those who knew him. He will be missed dearly by all who had the honor of knowing him.
