Darrell Lee McCoy Sr. age 75, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27, 1949, in Ranger, West Virginia, as the son of the late Leonard "Buddy" and Dixie Rose (Chaney) McCoy.
Darrell dedicated his life to hard work and family. Darrell spent an impressive 43 years at Glen Gery as a Maintenance Supervisor, where he was known for his strong work ethic and passion for his craft. His colleagues and friends often described him as a "hardworker" and a "work-a-holic," exemplifying the values of dedication and commitment throughout his career.
Darrell was a man of many interests outside the workplace. He was an avid fisherman, particularly enjoying the waters of Lake Erie, and found great pleasure in deer hunting. A true automobile enthusiast, he enjoyed working on vehicles, nurturing his hands-on skills whenever he had the opportunity. Darrell also had a love for games, especially Texas Hold'em, and was a passionate supporter of Ohio State University Football and the Cincinnati Reds. He also loved his Natty Light.
He leaves behind his beloved spouse, Teresa McCoy (Moore), and his son, Darrell (Ronda Jenkins) McCoy Jr. Darrell delighted in the company of his grandchildren: Chelsea and Sidney, who brought him immense joy, as well as his great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Trendyn, Carley, Hudson, and Carson. He cherished the time spent with them, creating lasting memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Darrell is survived by his brother, Robert (Patty) McCoy, who joins the family in celebrating his remarkable life. He was preceded in death by his sisters, JoAnn Estep and Emma Jean Cooper, who will be remembered fondly alongside him.
A memorial service in honor of Darrell will take place on October 26th, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM at the American Legion Worchester Post #401, located at 130 E. Main Street, Caledonia, OH 43314. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who touched so many lives with his hard work and unwavering love.
