David Leon Schiefer

David Leon Schiefer, age 84 of Newark, passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2023 at Arlington Care Center in Newark. David was born March 31st, 1939 in Bucyrus, Ohio as the son of the late Elvin and Esther (Rittenhour) Schiefer. David married Leora Foos in 1961 and she preceded him in death in 2009. David married Linda M. Berry in 2012 and she survives him at home. David graduated from Claridon High School in 1957 and attended the Ohio State University from 1957-1960. He retired from J.C. Penney after 37 years where he was a store manager. David was a member of Fallsburg Baptist Church, the Licking County Senior and Granville Creative Writers and the Land of Legend Woodcarvers. David is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Schiefer, grandson, Benjamin Schiefer and sister Linda Schiefer. David is preceded in death by his son, Christopher. Friends may call at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M Friday, June 9th, 2023. Pastor Brian Dahlke will be officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
