Dorothy Hoffman

Dorothy Ann (Morton) Hoffman, age 74 of Marion passed away February 25th 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Dorothy was born June 2nd, 1943, in Edison, Morrow County, Ohio as the daughter of the late Orville Johnson Morton and Gladys Ann (Nance) Morton. Her grandparents were Jo Tom and Laura Dale (Hines) Morton and Andrew Jackson and Sarah O'Linda (Blackmore) Nance. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hoffman; her only sibling, Sarah Jane (Morton) Weiland; her four daughters, Susan (John) Matthews of Caledonia, Julie Hoffman (Harold) Tukey of Crawford County, Jane (Kevin) Hill of Florida and Melinda Hoffman of Crawford County. She has 6 grandchildren all surviving - Susan's children (Ethan, Jonathon and Alexander Matthews) Julie's child (Joshua Hoffman) and Jane's children (Matthew and Kara Hill). Dorothy graduated from Edison High School in 1962. Prior to her marriage she worked at the First Federal Savings and Loan in Galion, Ohio. She married Thomas Herman Hoffman on November 5, 1966, in Marion. Thomas is the son of Ralph and Caroline (Wenzlick) Hoffman. Dorothy was a wonderful stay at home mother who also assisted with the care of the family farm and maintaining rental properties. She was devoted to her family and friends. She was kind-hearted, took great care of her family and friends, loved animals and worked hard all her life. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Spending time with her family was one of the most important things to Dorothy. Because of that, she has requested that rather than sending flowers, please take your family out for an evening or spend time with a loved one in her honor. A donation to the American Heart Association would be appreciated. Friends may call at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia on Thursday where the family will receive them from 6:00 until 7:00. A private burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery.
