Elaine Morton

Elaine Lee Morton, age 84, passed away on March 15, 2021 at her residence in Delaware, Ohio. Elaine was born February 16,1937 in Morral, Ohio and was the first-born child of Frank Willard Furniss and Dorothy Wyona Baker Furniss. She met her loving husband right across the road from her family farm. On May 8, 1955, she married Kenneth Lyle Morton. Her husband was in the Navy and she followed him to the Philippines where they lived for their first couple of years together before returning to the states. Back in Ohio, they had three children, Kelly Lee Harris (Robert) of Delaware, Scott Michael Morton (Melissa) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Melanie Jane Serpa (Barry) of Westerville, Ohio. Elaine was blessed to have seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her only sister, Maureen Smith of San Clemente, California. Elaine graduated from The Ohio State University and taught high-school English, Social Studies, and Government at Tri-Rivers Vocational School. In addition, she was a proficient musician and started playing as a piano accompanist in the sixth grade. Elaine loved music and went on to play the piano and organ professionally at several area churches as well as a choral director. Elaine also had a passion for gardening, was an excellent cook, and assisted her husband Ken in his home building business as the decorator and planner. After she retired from teaching, she and Ken would often travel together in their RV and enjoyed their various trips. But most of all, Elaine loved to be with her family and will be greatly missed. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate to fight Alzheimer's Disease. Their website is https://www.alz.org
