Eleanor Showers

Eleanor J. Showers, age 92, of Caledonia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon Nov 11th 2014 at the home of her granddaughter, Mindi Cass Day of Lexington, Kentucky . Eleanor was born on October 03, 1922 in Marion County as the daughter of the late Charles & Clara (Patton) Grant. On May 18th, 1945 she married Paul F. Showers and shared his life until he passed on November 24th, 2010. Eleanor was a 1941 graduate of Agosta High School and a 1945 graduate of Capital University. She received her Masters of Reading from Ohio State University. Eleanor was a school teacher for many years having taught school in Marion, Morrow and Crawford Counties. She was also a renowned organist having played in various churches in the Marion area. She was also organist for the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home for many years. Eleanor was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion; she and Paul had also attended the Caledonia Church of Christ. She was a member of the Marion County Teacher's Association, The Farm Bureau and Delta Kappa Gamma. Eleanor lost her only daughter, Jean Ann Fisher in March of 2013. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jonathon Lee Cass of Caledonia, Kara & Joshua Funk of Perrysburg and Mindy & Timothy Day of Lexington, Kentucky. Her great-grandchildren are Joshua, Hannah & Eli Day, Lydia Isaac, Micah, Phoebe & Eden Funk. Her greatest joy in life was that of being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Funeral Services for Eleanor will be held at 10:00 Saturday morning November 15th at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery.
