Gregory Eugene Weir

Gregory "Greg" Eugene Weir, age 70, of Gulf Breeze Florida and formerly of Caledonia, Ohio, passed away September 22nd, 2024 in Sacred Heart Ascension Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Gregory was born on December 20, 1953, in Marion, Ohio, as the son of the late Wayne and Lela Masters (Watkins) Weir. He lived a life deeply rooted in both community and the outdoors, having dedicated many years to serving the people of San Francisco through his career with the Parks and Recreation division where he retired. Gregory's tenure in this role was marked by a profound to enhancing public green spaces and promoting outdoor activities for all residents.

A proud graduate of River Valley High School Class of 1972, Gregory furthered his education, earning a Master's Degree from San Francisco State. His academic pursuits reflected his passion for learning and his dedication to personal growth.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gregory had an enduring love for the outdoors. He found immense joy in hiking, relishing moments spent in nature, exploring trails, and appreciating the beauty of the world around him. The beach held a special place in his heart, where he enjoyed swimming in the ocean and soaking in the sun. His enthusiasm for sports was equally noteworthy; he was a devoted fan of OSU Football, as well as the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants, often sharing his passion for these teams with friends and family.

Gregory also had an appreciation for the arts, enjoying trips to the theater, connecting with stories and performances that enriched his life and broadened his perspectives.

He is survived by his brother, Rick (Tina) Weir, his cousin, Ryan (Gretchen Jewett) Weir, his girlfriend, Sally Cabunoc and many nieces and nephews. Each of them will carry forward the cherished memories of Gregory, remembering him not only for his accomplishments and interests but also for the kindness and warmth he shared with those around him. His spirit will be missed, yet his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.

Friends may call at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home Monday, September 30th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Service will follow at 12 with Pastor Amy Barr officiating. Interment will be in Caledonia Cemetery.
