Henry French Painter, age 82, a beloved member of the Johnsville community, passed away at his residence on June 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was known for his dedication to his work Tecumseh for over 29 years, and helped his Amish neighbors and community. Henry was born on July 15, 1941, in Kingston, West Virginia as the son of the late Leonard and Fonetia (Champ) Painter. Henry married the love of his life Nelson Melvina "Vine" Lawhun April 25th, 1975 in Indiana. "Vine" proceeded him in death December 30th, 2021. Reunited again.
Throughout his life, Henry embodied kindness and warmth that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The Amish community held him in high regard, often describing him as a great neighbor who exemplified compassion and generosity.
Henry's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He found solace in activities such as deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. His love for NASCAR racing and frequent visits to the racetrack in LaRue and Norwalk brought him immense joy. Henry also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and framing his favorites, as well as engaging in games of Solitaire.
Henry will be dearly missed by his surviving family members: daughter; Tina (Ernest) Hamm Painter, daughter; Nikkie Hamm, son; Rick Jackson, brother; Richard (Wanda) Painter, brother; John (Myrtle) Painter, sister; Lena Johnson, daughter-in-law; Jackie Jackson, 9 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and his Furkid Buster. He is preceded in death by his sons; Timothy "Peanut" Painter and Raymond Jackson, brother Gene Painter and grandson Todd Jackson.
The visitation for Henry French Painter will be held on June 20, 2024, from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location with Pastor Rickie Cox officiating.
In honoring Henry's memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life characterized by love for family and community. His legacy of kindness and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him and pay final respects to a man who touched so many lives with his gentle spirit.
