Jack Lowell Sayre

Jack Lowell Sayre, age 91 of Edison, Ohio passed away, Thursday, September 21, 2023 at his residence. Jack was born January 21st, 1932 in Buchtel, Ohio as the son of the late Harvey and Virginia (Bowen) Sayre. Jack married Ruth Tyner May 13, 1977 and she survives him at home. Jack was a Sgt. in the Army, where he was stationed in Korea at the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission. Jack was a machinist/operator with Timken Roller Bearing, North American Aviation, Western Electric and Dresser of Marion. Jack was a Master Mason of Oliver Lodge #447 in Caledonia and O.E.S. Vera Chapter #64 where he was initiated in 1978. Jack was a Worthy Patron 17 times and was awarded with his 25 year pin with O.E.S.  Jack was a former member of the Marion Corvette Club where he was a past president. Jack was a “jack of all trades and a master of none”. He was a shade tree mechanic and loved working and rebuilding hot rods. Jack was an avid reader of everything and anything. He enjoyed being outdoors and going to car shows with Ruth. Most of all, Jack loved his family and spending time with them. Jack is survived by his sons; Michael Sayre and Chris (Sharon) Sayre, stepdaughters; Sandy Toy and Marilyn Naes, grandchildren; Jason (Melissa)  Sayre, Paul (Koty) Sayre, Joey (Brianna) Sayre and Megan (Collin) Koenig, step-grandchildren; Alecsander Toy, Victoria Toy, Britt (Brook) Lloyd and Wes Lloyd and 22 great grandchildren. Jack is preceded in death by his daughter; Tonya Sayre, step-daughter; Anita Nickens, brother; James Sayre and sister; Noma Jean Estes.  A special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Tranquility Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Jack and Ruthie. Friends may call at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M Monday, September 25th. Masonic, Eastern Star and funeral services will begin at 7:00P.M.  Graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607.
