John W. Croft

John Wilson Croft, age 81 of rural Caledonia, passed away early Wednesday morning November 25th at home. John was born in Marion County September 29th, 1928 the son of the late William L. & Elva Mae (Tipton) Croft. On September 29th, 1956 he married Dorothy Marie Van Vlerah and she survives him at home. John was a life long Claridon Township Farmer and had quite a reputation as a water witch. He enjoyed fishing and was a loyal Cleveland Indians Fan. As a youngster John attended Likens Chapel until it closed in 1942 and later life attended Marion Salem United Methodist Church. He is also a former member of the Knights of Pythias of Caledonia. Besides his wife Dorothy, John is survived by his son and daughter -in - law Stanley and Debora Croft of Caledonia. He is also survived by a step -son Donald Van Vlerah of Houston Texas. He was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral Services for John will be held on Monday November 30th at 11:00 A.M. in the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 - 5:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
