Leonard G. Wolfel, age 79 of Caledonia , passed away early Wednesday morning August 18th, 2010 in Heartland of Marion. He was born in Marion April 25th, 1931 the son of Raymond C. and Mildred (Burkhardt) Wolfel. He attended St. Mary's Elementary and graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1949. He was a hard worker all his life having started working in his father's filling station when he was nine years old and retired from Roadway Express as a trucker in 1988. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, American Legion Post 401 in Caledonia and a life member in the National Rifle Association. On April 10th, 1954 he married the former Frances M. Gimble in Minneapolis. She survives him at home. He is also survived by his son Raymond Wolfel III of Caledonia and his daughter Christine (Kurt) Fechter of Lake City MI. Five Grandchildren; Kristin (Brent) Lay of California, Jessie (Megan) Wolfel of Galion, Raymond C. Wolfel IV Pikeville, KY, Gabrielle and Andrew Fechter of Lake City, MI. He was preceded in death by his son Thomas Wolfel , one brother Raymond C. Wolfel Jr. and his sisters Emily Pash and Elizabeth Wilkinson. In keeping with the wishes of the family the body will be cremated. Friends may call at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia where the family will meet the from 12:00 until 2:00 on Friday August 20th. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 P.M. in Caledonia Cemetery with services provided by the Marion Veteran's Council. Memorial Contributions may be made to Luther Home of Mercy, 5810 N. Main St. Williston, Ohio 43468 or the charity of the donor's choice.
