Marguerite Marie McCray, age 90 passed away Sunday afternoon May 5th in Mill Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Galion She was born November 24th, 1922, in Glen Ebon, Athens County, Ohio to the late Charles and Mary (Bobbitt) Barnhart. Marguerite graduated form Athens High School in 1941. She married Donald Earl McCray Sr. on July 22nd, 1942. He preceded her in death in June of 2008 after sixty-four years of marriage. In 1955 Donald & Marguerite moved their family from Carbon Hill, OH to Iberia OH. Marguerite retired from Northmor School's Iberia Elementary in August 1983 as Head Cook after 25 years of service. Marguerite and Donald enjoyed traveling and participating in World War II Military Reunions celebrating Don's service in the U.S. Army. Marguerite was very interested in crafts, cooking and spent many years playing weekly Bingo in support of the Iberia Volunteer Fire Department. Donald & Marguerite were blessed with five children, Donald E. (Janice) McCray Jr. of Martel, Mrs. Karen ( Bill) Barber of Tallahassee, FL, Mrs. Sandra (Sam) Grimm of Ft. Wayne, IN, Michael McCray of Galion, Charles McCray of Sierra Vista, AZ. Her Grandchildren are Mrs. Shellie (Scott) Shirk, Mrs. Sonya (Carter) Vaverek, Mrs. Michelle (Michael ) Klein, Eric McCray and Chad Grimm. Great Grandchildren are Caroline, Emily and Connor Vaverek; Alexa, Leo and Rex Klein. She is also survived by one sister, Lucille James of Ft. Richey, Fl; sister-in-law Ester Tremain, Canton GA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Kelly McCray; two brothers Auyer Bobbitt and Charles Barnhart; six sisters, Zenith Jewett, Sarah Montgomery, Ethel Perry, Carolyn Strickland, Mary Kinkaid and Marion Pettifor. Funeral Services for Mrs. McCray will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia with Major Paul Knickerbocker officiating. Interment will follow in Iberia Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in on Wednesday from 6:00 - 9:00. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
