Galion - Martha Clark Kirk, age 77 of Galion passed away Friday afternoon April 25th, 2014 at home. Sunny was born in Cleveland January 22,1937 the daughter of the late Robert K. & Elizabeth (Harrison) Clark. She was Valedictorian of the Class of 1955 at Caledonia High School and a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan. Sunny was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma & Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a Public School Teacher throughout her teaching career which began in Harrod, Ohio and continued at Maumee, Green Camp and Galion. Sunny loved to play cards and was a member of the Bridge-O-Rama in Galion and the Ladies Bridge Club at the Galion Country Club. She was a Team Captain for the Crawford County Relay for Life and a volunteer for Home Healthcare Matters Hospice for whom she knitted Prayer Shawls. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion where she was an active member of the Bell Choir. Sunny was a life-long organist sharing her talents at Canaan, Caledonia and Galion United Methodist Churches. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. On September 12, 1958 Sunny married James L Kirk and spent the rest of her life supporting him in all his ventures. She was truly a "Coaches Wife" and attended all of his many games and meets. Jim survives her at home. She will be dearly missed by her children, David A. Kirk of Garrettsville, Ohio, Steven & Rita Kirk of Worthington, Martha Lynn & John Kime of Bucyrus and Michael & Lisa Kirk of Westerville. Her grandchildren are Hannah & Rebecca Kirk, Jim Kirk, Joshua Kime , John H (Tiffany) Kime , Ella & Ava Kirk. Her memory will be cherished by her sisters, Deborah (Bill) Detwiler and Betsy (Anthony) Kazee of Caledonia. Sunny will also be missed by her brother-in-law George Kirk of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Catherine Kirk. Funeral Services for Sunny will be held at 11:00 Wednesday April 30th in the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home in Caledonia on Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 . Memorial Contributions may be made Home Healthcare Matters Hospice or Relay for Life of Crawford County.
