Maxine Reed

Maxine Louise Reed, age 82 of Martel, passed away on Monday afternoon April 03, 2017 at home. Maxine was born September 19th, 1934 in Martel as the daughter of the late Clarence & Mary Alice (Cowgill) Reed. She was a 1952 graduate of Martel High School and a 30 year employee of General Telephone. After leaving the phone company in 1991 Maxine became a volunteer for Marion General Hospital for many years. She was a very faithful member of Martel United Methodist Church for most of her life where she was pianist until very recently. She was also co-founder of the Martel Food Pantry. At home Maxine loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds and The Cleveland Indians, but was just as happy watching any sporting event involving OSU. She always had time to share her life with her dogs. Maxine will be dearly missed by her sister Patricia Elliott and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Plotner. Funeral Services for Maxine will take place at 10:00 Saturday morning April 8th at the Martel United Methodist Church with Pastor Stephan Bloomfield officiating. Interment will follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Friends may call at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia on Friday evening from 6 - 8. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martel United Methodist Church.
