Phyllis Ann Martin Disbrow

Phyllis Ann Martin Disbrow, 92, of Edison, Ohio passed away January 9th, 2024 at Marion General Hospital. Phyllis was born in Marion, Ohio, December 15th, 1931 as the daughter of the late Allen and Ruthella (Hoffman) Longacre. She was married to Hayes Martin  August 4th, 1951 and he preceded her in death January 20th, 1990. In 1992, she married William Disbrow and he preceded her in death August 26th, 2012. Phyllis was a lifelong member of the Caledonia Church of Christ where she served as organist, choir director and youth group leader for a number of years. She was also a member of the O.E.S. Vera Chapter #64, the Morrow County Retired Teachers Association and the “Last Chance Seniors” group of Caledonia. Phyllis was an Elementary teacher at Martel Elementary for many years as well as Claridon and Caledonia Elementary.  She loved her students and loved being a teacher.  Phyllis enjoyed being outdoors, camping, traveling, and wintering in Florida. For many years Phyllis rented a cottage at the lake for the annual family trip. Her children have many fond memories of those gatherings.  Phyllis was an avid reader and loved to cook and bake. She was known for her wonderful dinner rolls and they were a requested staple at many Church of Christ dinners and functions. Phyllis loved to entertain and cook for her friends and family. Most of all, Phyllis loved her family and being a grandmother.. Family always came first in her life. Phyllis will be missed by her children, David (Sherrie) Martin and Sue (Dave) Arter;  grandchildren, Scott (Jeanne) and Joel (Sarah); great-grandchildren, (who called her “G.G. and Rah-Rah”) Elliot, Ezra, Frances, Jack, Joan, Louis and James. Phyllis is preceded in death by her grandson, Drew, brother George Longacre and sister-in-law Marge Longacre.  Friends may call from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. Friday, January 19th at the Timson & Melroy Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 20th at 10:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment in Caledonia Cemetery.
