Richard E. Ray

Richard E. Ray age 77 of Caledonia, passed away Sunday morning August 30, 2009 at Marion General Hospital. He was born in Caledonia, Ohio on February 5th, 1932 the son of the late Clarence & Mary (Steel) Ray. On October 11th, 1963 he married the late Betty Jean Post. Richard was an assistant manager at a local lumber yard. He served in the Korean conflict as a front line medical assistant. He is survived by his sons and their spouses Robert and Rita Gist of Caledonia and Michael and Bonnie Gist of Caledonia. His one surviving brother is Robert and wife Janis of Marion. The extended family includes Richards nephews Thad Ray of Raymond, Ohio, and Steve Ray of Chesterville. Nieces include Jackie Creamer of Dayton, Terri and Bob Lunguist of Marion, Susie and Rick Spinkle of Marion, and Beth and Graig Owings of Logansports, Indiana. The family is rounded out by two grandsons Matt and wife Tart Gist of Delaware, Ohio and Nick in Columbus. There are 2 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, George and James. Calling hours for Richard E. Ray will be Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 at the Timson Allen & Melroy Funeral Home in Caledonia. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 3rd at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Yvonne Hechler officiating. Memorial contributions be made to Veteran's Council of Marion County.
