Stanley "Steamer" Croft

Stanley "Steamer" Allen Croft, age 64, of Caledonia died September 15th at his home. He was born March 23, 1957 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio as the son of the late John W. and Dorothy (VanVlerah) Croft. Stan married Deborah Lyons March 23, 1997 in Marion, Ohio and she survives him at home. Stan was a farmer, a proud farmer all of his life. He was a man of many words. He never met a stranger and would stay and "chat" for a while with anyone. Ron's Barber shop was a favorite hangout of Stan's and he knew nearly everyone who came in. He enjoyed spending time with Ron Meade and his son. Stan was a simple man and lived a simple, quiet life and yet just like his stature, he was still larger than life. Stan will be missed by his classmates, whom he dearly loved. River Valley class of 1975. He was a member of the Marion Salem United Methodist Church all his life. Stan was also a member of the Cattleman's Assoc. and the Caledonia Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trap shooting. He loved his Farmall tractors. Stan is survived by his brother Donald VanVlerah and his sister JoDee (Kevin) LaRoche. Visitation for Stan will be held from 12-2PM at the Marion Salem United Methodist Church, 1640 Salem Rd. Caledonia, Ohio, Wednesday September 22, 2021. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 at the church with Rev. Ric Harvel and Pastor Bob Hooker officiating, interment to follow in Caledonia Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Stan's memory to Morrow County Hospice or to Marion Salem United Methodist Church.
