Wayne LeRoy Carll

Wayne LeRoy Carll, age 82, of Caledonia, formerly of Hugo Colorado and Black Ash Pennsylvania passed away September 18th, 2024 at Woodside Village Care in Mt. Gilead. A cherished son of Oil City, Pennsylvania, Wayne was born on June 21,1942 as the son of the late Boyd Lot and Argyle Marie (Reed) Carll. He spent his formative years in Dempsytown, PA.  A proud graduate of the Oil City High School Class of 1960, Wayne embarked on a commendable career that spanned various industries. He notably worked for Channel Lock in Meadville, PA, The Popcorn Company in Ohio, and excelling as an industrial electrician. His professional journey was marked by a dedication to his craft and a commitment to excellence. Wayne was also a member of the Kirkpatrick Church of Christ.

Wayne married Mary Elizabeth Shrum of Seneca, PA March 18, 1964 and she preceded him in death December 18th, 2013, now reunited.

Wayne was a generous man, beloved by his family and friends. He had an unyielding passion for teaching, always eager to share his vast knowledge of electrical and plumbing work. His ability to impart wisdom resonated deeply with those fortunate enough to learn from him. In addition to his technical skills, Wayne enjoyed the thrill of building race cars, showcasing both his creativity and hands-on talent.

As a storyteller, Wayne could captivate audiences with his lively accounts of hunting and fishing. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, Miranda Stockdale and Chelsea Wagner, two great grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews, nurturing a family legacy built on shared memories and lessons.

Wayne is preceded in death by his daughter Patricia Stockdale, brother William Carll and his brother-in-law Dean Poss. He is survived by his sisters, Roberta (Dick) Harris and Meridith Poss, and his sister-in-law Viola Carll, who will carry his memory forward.

Wayne will be remembered not only for his skills and contributions to those around him but also for his warmth and generosity. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends who were privileged to know him.

A memorial service for Wayne will be held in July at the 2025 VAL family reunion.
